Life just happens

We met Tina and Sven at Justin and Julia's wedding in Tenbury Wells last June. That's us going hatty in our English wedding garb in the photo (we only procured the headwear that morning, in Ludlow).

Lo and behold, barely a year later, our paths have come together yet again: they moved from Berlin to Konstanz, a pretty town on the Swiss-German border and are expecting their first child any day now.

Konstanz is only an hour away from Zurich by train and Ste and I made an excursion of it last weekend. Tina and Sven met us at the station and we strolled through the charming old town before making our way to their flat, where we were treated to a delectable homemade chocolate cake (I skipped the salad and had cake for my main course and dessert) and great conversation.

The sun finally peeped through the clouds and we dashed out to soak up the lakeside view. We skipped across the border and back, giggling at the thought of how suspicious we must look (two heavily pregnant women threatening to burden either country's post-natal care system).

At close to full term, Tina looks as incredible as she always has and still takes her bike out everyday (a true Berliner) ... a real inspiration for me! I can barely balance with my feet on terra firma. The next time we meet, hopefully in summer, it will be a riot ... with the six of us!
